Hey there, kindred spirits. Welcome to Modern life and spirit podcast. It's Christina Wooten, certified psychic medium from SedonaMedium.com

Robert Wooten:

I am Reiki Master Teacher Robert Wooten, good to be here

Christina Wooten:

today. I wanted to just kind of break something down. Because as somebody who teaches intuition, one of the things that I see that can really get in the way is when people start getting in this mindset that intuition has to be hard, or that they have to, like, take it really, really seriously. And you know, so when it's time to do exercises or to practice or do something new, like you can see this as they close their eyes, this sort of serious face come over, and they get really, really intense and really, really focused, you know, and scrunch their face A little bit, and that, like, searching for something, trying to make something happen, that energy really closes us down. That serious side of, like, let me put all this pressure on it and make it hard, shuts intuition down. Because intuition is a flow. It's actually very, very natural. So we don't have to be in this place of, I've got to make something happen, I have to really focus my brain and focus my mind. It's no in fact, we just want to relax so that all of that can really drift away. Those thoughts can drift away. We're not resisting. In fact, we're opening rather than being in that resistant mode. So today, I wanted to invite you to practice using your intuition, and to do so in a way that's working with your joy guides, that's fun, that's playful, that's opening rather than restricting and serious and hard, instead, it's very allowing and just playful. And brings us to one thing that's really important for intuitive people, which is to have balance, to have a lightness, a playfulness, an openness, a sometimes silliness, an inspiration, like when we have these higher type of energies that are more connected with Our innocent self, our playful self, our heart self, we are naturally more receptive and more open to the other side from that place. So you can

Robert Wooten:

think of the difference in this between being very serious and being light hearted. How something, say, like creativity flows. I saw a preschool teacher one time was teaching some kids how to do math problems, and math is normally something that a lot of kids are stressed about at all ages, certainly the younger ones who don't have any concept of it when they're first learning it, it's very difficult for them. So I saw this preschool teacher one time decided to make it a little bit lighter for the kids, and so she was teaching them about addition and subtraction, and she would make the kids go up into front of the class, and they would stand there in groups, and she could divide them up, like you could add a person from this group over to this group, and how many kids do you have there? And they could count themselves as to how many children were either subtracted. And the kids really liked that. It was very fun for them. They got to get up and play and move in front of the class. But it helped them understand, in a real world way, how you add and subtract, what that means. And instead of just writing it down and having these abstract things like numbers, they could participate in it. And it was much more free flowing for them, and they understood more about the concept of it. And if you've ever seen a child at play, the creativity is just flowing freely through them. When they're running around and having fun, they're just thinking of things to do. They're thinking of ideas and fun to have because it's just flowing through them easily. But if you were to sit that same child down and put give them a piece of paper and say, think of something to draw. Draw me a picture, it'd be much harder for them to do that, because now they're trying to constrain that creativity focus it because they think you want something serious out of them, whereas if you just ask them to draw something while they're running around playing, they probably could sit down and do it really quickly and go back to playing, because it would just flow right

Christina Wooten:

through them, right? But it can be very easy, you know, when you're a parent or when you're working hard, or you're a business owner, or, you know, maybe you're doing a remodel and working on, you know, a big project, it can be easy to like slip into this very serious mode and serious energy, and so it's important for us to balance with that lighter frequency, even if it means that we need to be very intentional about inviting that in and intentional about holding ourselves accountable to you. I don't want to live in this shutdown way, or in this, you know, intensity all of the time. So I wanted to share a little bit of an intuitive practice that you can do with your joy guide. So for those who aren't familiar with joy guides, we have done some episodes about them, so I don't want to go too deeply into that, but I would just say, if this is your first time hearing about them, our joy guides are those who help us on the other side to lift our vibrations, to lift our spirits, to not be so drained by the rigor and the heaviness that is the earth plane. They help us to remember who we truly are, to remember the lightness of our spirit, and by doing so, overcome the heaviness and the hurdles of the earth plane. So they lift us out of depressions at times, they can help us to see the bright side of things and just again, remind us of what we truly are and what we're here to do, which is not to necessarily self identify with all of these physicality knowing that we are eternal beings and our true nature is quite different than what we're experiencing here. So our joy guides can help us with all of that.

Robert Wooten:

We have to have this balance. There are times when you certainly need to take your job and life and responsibilities very seriously, but it doesn't have to be all of the time. And I think we're out of balance if we are not from time to time, opening up and seeing that other fun, silly, creative side,

Christina Wooten:

I would agree with all that, but I think that the more that the mind is involved, which gets involved anytime we're doing serious stuff or we're pre analyzing things, which can be a real problem for people when they're opening intuitively, is like they're censoring themselves all the time because they're part of their mind is screening everything that's coming through to try and figure it out. Make sure it's, you know, safe to say, or they're not going to sound dumb, or they're not going to sound silly, and anytime the mind is involved, it pulls back anything else that can come through. So anyway, our goal today is just talking about a fun way that you can connect with your intuition and also try and bring more of that playful balance. You know, our spirit guides are always encouraging us to enjoy life, to try and appreciate it, to enjoy the little things as much as possible, because with that grateful heart, we have a higher vibration. We are more in alignment with the natural law and some of the things that we've talked about before, it helps us to create the very best experience that we can have. I find that I manifest a lot better when I just take a break and get my mind off of everything. If I just step away and do something fun and like really focus on something else, it's like, then something sort of drops in my lap. And, you know, I've discovered from that, that the change of mindset of that, you know, I don't have to work to make things happen, that I just have to get out of the way to allow things to be able to flow to me. And the more that my mind is involved, a lot of times, the more it blocks things out. So today, with our intuitive practice, it's all about creating a fall bucket list for yourself, thinking about playful and fun things that you want to do and that you want to experience during this fall and change of season. There's lots of fun things that are happening. And you know, this is also great for grounding. If you just need to, like, get back in your body. You need to get back into your senses. You need to get into the pleasure zone. You need to be taking care of your physical body. More these types of activities of getting into seasonal stuff. Eating seasonal foods helps our bodies to be grounded into, you know, the flow of life experience that we are having. So here's what I challenge you to do, whether it's today or tomorrow. I wouldn't wait too long, because it's so easy for things to fall off the radar and to just go, Oh, I'll come back to this and never actually come back to it, and never do it. But I would invite you to sit down, to take a moment and clear your mind as much as possible, to bring yourself to a very relaxed and peaceful space within so that part of us that exists really beyond the circumstantial stresses and tensions that we're having, that just is always in a state of perpetual peace. So breathing deeply into that space, feeling relaxed, allowing yourself to just gently touch that space within and when you're there, want you to invite your joy guides to assist you say, I'm creating a joyful. Fall bucket list, and I would love my joy guides to assist me in coming up with creative, fun, playful experiences for this fall season for me to do and from that space, then it's allowing your intuition and your impressions to begin to guide you, to see what comes up for you at that moment. So for some people, you may find, if you've been doing intuitive development work for a while, that things begin to flow in right away. For others, if you haven't done as much intuitive development work on a consistent basis, you may find that once you sleep on it a little bit, or you like, step away from the thought process, that things begin to reveal themselves, and you go, Oh, you know what? If I did this, or you have a dream, that you sort of wake up with a new inspiration. So any of those is okay in the range of experience. But here's what I would invite you to do. As you're listening, you know, pay attention to what kinds of things do you see? Do you sense? Do you feel? Do you know, and asking yourself, How do you want to feel this fall season? Think about sensory. Do you want to feel like warm and cozy? Or do you want to feel like those crisp mornings when you're taking like a morning hike or a morning stroll and you're kind of hearing things that are crunching on the ground, but feeling like the cool air in your breath, kind of out intermingling with that. Maybe you're feeling like the warmth of a mug in your hand. And you know that feels comforting, but I want you to pay attention. How do you want to feel? How do you want to feel emotionally during this time as well? What kind of other sensory experiences just naturally begin to emerge in your consciousness? And the key is I don't want your mind to go too far with this, because we really want this to be more of an intuitive practice and an intuitive experience. So instead of like, Oh, I could do the pumpkin patch and I could like, go make gourmet candy apples, or, you know, here, I can go hike in West Fork and go across the creek crossings and see all the leaves. Instead, it's really about what emerges, what wants to come forward. And so then just write down some of the things that you're sensing and you're feeling. So maybe you're feeling some of the sensory things we talked about. Maybe you're aware of an emotion that you kind of need during this time, or maybe you see something or hear something, or your thoughts come through very quickly that start to inspire you or awaken something. Write those things down that come up, and then from there, you know, once you've kind of ended that little intuitive session and connection session that you've had with your joy guides, just invite your guide to continue to guide you and support you and coming up with more and more joyful and fun, creative things that you can do over the fall season, so that you're inviting them to continue this conversation with you, or to bring more events to your awareness. So once you have those things that you've written down that sort of came up for you, then you might, you know, do something like go on Facebook events and look for some events in your area, or in other places. You could look through Pinterest and, you know, see what comes up for you. And when you do that, I want you to pay attention to how your body responds. So we really want to get out of the mind. The mind can be like, Oh my gosh. This is so cute. I love this. This is adorable. Let me make this instead, we want to go, whew, I feel this. I feel connected with this, or my body seems to really like this idea. So I want you to really pay more attention to what your body is saying. And then also, maybe you'll see something, and you feel like you're reading an event. I want you to listen for that response from your internal self of, do you get, like, a yes, yes. This feels really positive. Or I'd like to do this a yes, that's coming from your heart and from your gut, not from your head. Okay, so start to pay attention a little bit more to that, and then begin to form what your fall bucket list is and then, of course, the key is to get out there and start planning it, start setting things up, making sure that you're adding events. We recently did a ghost. What was it? A ghost? Walk in Jerome. So Jerome is not far from us in Sedona. It's like a small mountain, very, very artistic town, but it's really small. It used to be an old mining community, and definitely a part of the wild wild west. And what was really fun about I had seen, I had felt this really strong, intuitive, like, you should go do this. And so I felt like, yes, let me sign up. I went ahead and just trusted that. I didn't know a lot about it. I bought the tickets and just stuck it on the calendar, added it to the calendar, and it was done. Completely forgot about it for the most part, until just a day or two before, and then I saw it on the calendar. Went, Oh, this is great. I have this plan. And we had such a blast. It was really, really fun. Everybody had gotten into it. It was less like ghost centric and like we're talking about earthbound spirits, and more focused on just wild historical things that had happened in Jerome. And it was absolutely incredible. It was so much fun to watch and experience. But what I loved about that is that sometimes it's easy to go day to day and just not do anything like that, but the fact that I had planned it was just on the calendar, and then, of course, it was easy to just do once it was on the calendar, that's what I would encourage you to do for yourself as well. Just set up some events and things and block it off in your calendar. I'm gonna go get the gourmet caramel apples at this time on this date, this is the day we're going to do it, or I'm going to, you know, go out and look for shooting stars with some warm apple cider outside on this day. So set up these things in your calendar so it's just about you actually following through. But the key is, as you're creating these events, is focus on listening to the feedback that you are getting energetically about every event before you just add it so that all that stuff is coming from your heart, from your intuition, from your guidance, and not from your head. And that's how you'll have the very best of experiences. And notice, if you start to get into serious mode, take a breath and make sure that you reset yourself the moment that you notice you're in serious mode, you've gotten out of spirit mode. Serious mode is not spirit mode, so get out of that and get back into your openness and out of that resistance and see what comes up for you. If you follow through with this guidance, I know that you will have a really fun, playful, joyful and inspiring season to look forward to, with little bits of delight and positivity happening throughout your weeks and the weeks ahead. I hope you have lots of fun with this intuitive exercise and see where it takes you, see what kind of energies it brings up for you, and also what it inspires in you. Moving forward, this is a great time for us to be in that abundance mindset. This is just a great way for us to get into truly appreciating in that high vibration, grateful energy.
