Christina Wooten:

Hey there, kinderd spirits. Welcome to Modern Life and Spirit Podcast. It's Christina Wooten, certified psychic medium at SedonaMedium.com and Hi Robert, it's nice to have you today. Hello. It's great to be here. So before we dive into our topic today, which is all about the solar plexus, doing a little bit of a detox, recognizing how the solar plexus is connected with emotional overwhelm and feeling stuck and feeling like you can't move forward, all of that big, juicy stuff that I think we can all relate to having experienced. I thought we would do just a little check in what are you doing right now this week to show yourself some self love. What does that look like for you? Well,

Robert Wooten:

I have bounced back into my exercise regimen, in my meditation regimen, and as we shift towards looking towards spring, I know that I'm going to be doing a lot of outside work. We're gonna be doing gardening, so I'm trying to get myself back physically after the hibernation period of winter. It feels like sometimes, and yeah, it's, I think I've been doing more of that. I've been stretching more. I've been trying to get out and do my regular walk regimen more, and it's been, it's been a challenge, because once you get out, even if it's something you've done for years and years, that it is kind of hard to get back into it. It's easy to slip out of things, and harder to slip back into them sometimes, isn't it, and

Christina Wooten:

you've had a big schedule change too, which I think is the big contributing factor to things shifting, and so having to learn how to accommodate, you know, from your normal pattern, to accommodate everything with this new schedule. You know, it is challenging and it's different. Yeah, absolutely. How about you? Well, one of the things that you said just about physical body was like, Oh yeah, I'm doing some self love stuff for my body. This week, it was reminding me that I've gotten back into my commitment around one of my like food sensitivities, to not eat this thing that I know that my body reacts to, but tastes so yummy and so good, but feels so so bad. So it's been partially that over the last couple of weeks, getting into that habit again and noticing at the same time, like how good I feel and how much more energy I have and so forth, I'm really committed to some sensitivities. And then there's this one that I just kind of fall back to every now,

Robert Wooten:

just name it. It's cheese. Stop it. Yes, yes, cheese is delicious. Everybody loves some cheese. But here, what's really great, though, is that we have come upon a time where there's some good alternatives to cheese, right to dairy cheese. We found several recently of cheese alternatives that melt well to make grilled cheeses. They you know, they taste good. So

Christina Wooten:

many good, yeah, alternatives that feel better, that are, you know, cruelty free. So, so nice. I really, I feel like we're in such a fortunate time to be able to have certain substitutes. And I understand that, you know, to make oat milk turn into this delicious something that's similar to cheese is probably not great either. But I'm not, I'm not there yet. You know, it's baby steps. We're just we're working with this anyway.

Robert Wooten:

Well, I think what this points to really, is something we've talked about a lot, and that's listening to your own body's energy, listening to your own body's messages that are telling you things like don't eat, that do eat, that don't drink, that do drink, that your body is telling you these things all the time, and it is as simple as, what does it feel like when you drink something, if you feel better, if you feel worse, then listen to that. I think

Christina Wooten:

some of that is connected with our sense of authenticity too. The more that we're listening to what our system is telling us, the more authentic we can be. A lot of people think of authenticity, or when I hear people talk about authenticity, they're usually talking about the throat chakra, how they're expressing themselves in an authentic way, and not repressing certain things or delivering things with tact. But authenticity is deeper. It is about being able to honor what our cycles of energy are telling us and also what our body is saying to us. And you know, our relationship with that is all part of being able to live fully in our authentic energy. So today I wanted to talk about the solar plexus chakra. We've done some different episodes in the past. Specifically. About the sacral chakra, which is in the abdominal area of the body and governs emotions, predominantly, as well as many other things like our creativity and creative blocks. We've talked about the third eye chakra and different symptoms of opening the third eye chakra, but I wanted to continue talking more about the energy system and different aspects of it, so that we can get to know ourselves and love ourselves even more fully and more deeply. And the solar plexus is one of those areas that's carrying a tremendous amount of stress right now. The Solar Plexus is the energy center that's located just above about three finger widths above the belly button. So in the top part of the stomach area that looks like a little yellow orb in the center of your stomach area and the solar plexus chakra, is that energy center that governs personal power. It's our sense of self confidence and also the discernment between your responsibility and someone else's responsibility. Now it does many different other things. For example, it's a battery source for the entire energetic system, which, in and of itself, is a really profound function of this solar plexus chakra. But for the sake of not going too deep into the weeds of all of that in one episode, I really want to just focus on how the solar plexus is connected to emotional overwhelm and decision paralysis and burnout, because a lot of times we think about emotions as being solely connected with the sacral chakra, because that is where our raw emotional power is, but the solar plexus chakra contains That ability to transform emotional process and information and turn it into action. Turn it into forward movement. Whether that's we are acting on something, we're turning our intuition into action. We're turning our feeling into action and moving things forward, or whether it's we're not having the discernment to not act on something is also part of the solar plexus. Yeah,

Robert Wooten:

this is something I don't normally think about. When I think of the solar plexus, I have a tendency to think of the solar plexus, like a lot of people probably do, where it's just this energy source. It's the battery that sort of runs the rest of the system, especially the lower chakras, and it just creates this energy to pull from. But like all of the chakras, they do blend one into the other and one leads to the other, and sometimes they loop back around, like we're going to talk about later, of how the your mental aspect also gets filtered into the energy of the solar plexus chakra. Yeah,

Christina Wooten:

the chakra system is a system. So in general, a lot of times we tease certain elements, you know, out to be like this serves this function in this role, but altogether it serves the whole function, the wholeness. It's a holistic system and a holistic process. But we can isolate certain elements and say, this predominantly does this and so forth. If you have ever felt like your emotions are just running the show, and you just feel like, oh, it's really hard to stop it, or to, you know, halt it, or to process a little bit more. It just seems like you're kind of running on that raw emotion energy, or maybe in another direction. You're feeling so drained from other people's energy that you just feel like, oh, I have nothing left for myself. Maybe you are doing a lot of service work in your love languages right now. You are giving, giving, giving, giving, sharing, sharing, sharing, sharing, sharing, not necessarily always using that discernment, because you're the universal giver, which so many of us are, and you're feeling like, oh, that battery just keeps getting more and more and more drained the further that you go, and secretly, maybe you're getting more and more resentful. Anger management is also one of those side functions of the solar plexus. It can also be that feeling when your brain won't shut up, when your stomach feels like it's just got that stress not in it. You know what I'm talking about, almost a physical sensation. Or if you are sleeping a lot, and no matter how much you sleep, you're just still waking up feeling really, really exhausted, that's what I'm talking about with this emotional overwhelm. For a lot of us, especially if you're an empath or you're a sensitive soul, it doesn't just stop with our own stress. We're out here carrying everyone else's baggage like we're just running an emotional Lost and Found, just picking it up wherever we go. More. More than ever, I really think that I'm seeing people feel overwhelmed, overloaded by emotions, by responsibilities and by pressure, whether that's from personal relationships or just this overarching sense of uncertainty, because there's so much happening at one time in our world, there's a lot of awareness of things happening that's really impacting our empaths around the world too. There's just so much energy being flung around, and now we have this massive awareness of all the things that are happening in our world, and that really impacts sensitive people.

Robert Wooten:

Yeah, I think a sense of hyper reactivity feeds into that as well. You feel like you have to be always on guard, or you have to be always ready to move at any given moment, being on point all the time. I think it's it feels draining. We think of this as more of a mental thing, but it really is not. It's really coming from your sin. Your body is reacting energy. Yeah, yeah. The way I would look at it would be, if you connect it to say how a car works, you know, you you can be sitting in your car with the engine turned off, but you've got the key on because you're running the radio and maybe the fan and maybe some lights and all that. And so why you think, Well, I'm not using any energy because the car is turned off, you can actually drain the battery that way. And I think that that's what we're doing, is that we may be sitting still, we may not be moving a lot, but our brain is like running and running and running, and it's just draining the energy, I

Christina Wooten:

think a lot of spiritually aware people are absorbing so much, whether it's from the people that they serve their clients, the people that they're taking care of in their work, or it's from their family, or just in General, the collective energy, like we've talked about without a strong solar plexus chakra, it is so easy to lose yourself in other people's emotions and expectations. I wish I could just like come through the microphone and say that, you know, it's easy to lose yourself in other people's emotions and expectations when your solar plexus is overwhelmed. So if you are feeling emotionally weighed down, this episode is going to help you to clear that weight and just get back to yourself, back to that confident energy, back to moving forward in a positive way, whatever that looks like for you, whether it's acting on something or not acting on something, depending on what you need specifically. So when you have emotional overwhelm that is coming from the solar plexus, some of the things that you might be sensing is just this heavy weight that you carry in your energy field. You're just like, oh, think about when we go into certain places that have strong energy. We can sense when it feels heavy. Here like, Oh, wow. This is really, really heavy. We get that feeling also in our energy field, or auric field, where we feel heavy. Sometimes people might give it back to you, if you are disconnecting from what's happening in your energy field. What may happen instead is other people around you say your energy feels super stressed, or you seem really stressed, and you might be like, Well, I don't feel very stressed, but if multiple people say that, you start to investigate, am I dissociating from stress? What's happening? They're probably sensing your energy and the heaviness that's in your energy field, whether it's emotional or physical or mental, you can also have mental fog, just not feeling very clear at all, not sure how to again, move forward, whether you should be acting on something or just feeling really stuck, exhaustion, physical exhaustion, just really, really tired. Nothing seems to really recharge you. Or if you start to get recharged, you recharge for just a short period of time, and then you seem to reset immediately back to whatever your base stress line happens to be, overthinking, feeling super indecisive because you're overthinking all the time and not sure the path forward. Digestive issues, of course, always comes up with the solar plexus. It's right there at the stomach, so it governs that area. So, you know, it can be really, really sensitive for stomach stuff. And of course, just feeling stuck and drained in general, any of those signs are strong indicators that something's going on with the solar plexus, and because it's the battery of the whole system, we want to make sure that that's nice and charged, because it's really going to help the whole rest of your body feel strong and feel powerful and not feel as vulnerable as You might be feeling from that super stressed out, overthinking, drained, overwhelmed place so with our chakras, when they get out of balance, they can become either underactive or overactive or just completely blocked. When that chakra becomes underactive and. Not putting out a whole lot of energy. It's kind of prioritizing what it's able to do at this point, because it doesn't have a whole lot of energy to work with. You might feel powerless or indecisive or overly influenced by other people, so their emotions, their needs and their expectations start to become more significant or more important than yours, or maybe you have a hard time even hearing what those needs are, because you are hearing other people's first because that area is under active, it's not communicating as strongly to you if it's overactive. So that chakra has gotten out of balance. It's gotten supercharged, super energized, that's also unhealthy too, that can cause us different kinds of problems. So in that case, when you've been pulling a lot from that solar plexus chakra, you're using it a whole lot. Sometimes that just gets bigger and bigger and bigger and gets a little out of check into the rest of your chakras. And when that happens, you'll feel overly responsible. Can be very controlling, very, very type A or that feeling of being constantly on like you just don't know how to relax. You don't know how to decompress your mind and everything is going, going, going, going, thinking, thinking, doing, doing, doing, doing, and you just have a hard time moving out of that high gear into rest mode, peace mode, relaxation mode. You're just always in that intensity. If you're having a little bit of trouble picturing this, I want us to play a game. So I want you to see if you recognize yourself or anyone that you know in some of these examples. So let's talk about Sarah. So Sarah is the friend who everyone turns to when they really need advice, when they need that shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to. It's like they're just magnetized to this person. It's also that same person that like goes to Walmart and everybody just dumps their stuff on in the line in the grocery store, whatever she wants to be there for the people she loves, but she's just really getting exhausted. So every conversation seems to drain her. She notices that she's carrying the emotions of others long after the conversation is over, so she keeps thinking about them and ruminating on them over and over again. And even when she's alone, her mind is just racing with worry about everyone else's problems. She feels heavy, but she doesn't know why, and the thought of setting boundaries makes her incredibly anxious. I mean, heaven forbid, what if people think she doesn't care. So she keeps taking on more and more until she feels completely overwhelmed and emotionally burnt out. So Sarah's solar plexus is leaking energy because she's just overextended herself. She's not filtering what energy is hers to carry and what isn't. And that leaves her feeling drained, exhausted, powerless. Janet, however, is the type of person who over analyzes everything, whether it's making a big decision about her career or choosing what to eat for dinner. She always worries about making the wrong choice. She replays conversations in her head, wondering if she said the right thing, and when she does make a decision, she second guesses herself and wonders if she should have chosen differently. And this constant overthinking makes her feel stuck. She wants to move forward, but fear of making a mistake keeps her trapped in indecision, and she just feels like she's wasting time, but she doesn't know how to break the cycle. So for Janet, her solar plexus is under active, so it makes it really hard for her to trust her gut instincts. The more that she doubts herself, the more exhausted she feels because she's burning energy in her mind, rather than taking action and feeling confident in that action. And the last example I wanted to give you today is Amy. So Amy is a successful, capable she's the go to person at work, at home, in her friend group. She prides herself in being dependable, but lately she's feeling overwhelmed. She's constantly saying yes to things she doesn't have the energy for, and even though she's doing so much, she feels like it's just never enough. She tells herself she should be able to handle it all, but deep down, she just feels like she's drowning, and rest feels impossible, because her mind is just always racing to the next thing on her to do list, and she wonders, why do I always have to be the strong one? Maybe you've seen that pattern in your life too. So in this case, Amy solar plexus is overactive, so it's leading to burnout, exhaustion and control issues. She's been conditioned to believe. Believe that her worth is tied to what and how much she accomplishes, and that makes it hard to slow down and to just be be present. Be present with yourself when you feel like you have to earn your worthiness. So the big question is, do you see yourself and people that you know in any of these do you feel like you've been carrying too much or overthinking or pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion? Because if you are, it's time to do a deep dive into some self love and self care for the solar plexus. If you notice any of this in yourself, or this is really like ringing some bells for you, then it's important to detox that emotional overwhelm and strengthen the solar plexus chakra, because once we have something in alignment and nice and strong, it's incredibly resilient, incredibly powerful, and it's going to guide you along the way. It's incredible how some of these symptoms of imbalance can immediately redirect themselves once we bring that back into balance, and depending on the long standingness of this situation, I mean really, even long standing situations can resolve themselves relatively quickly when you give it the right support that it needs. The solar plexus, I told you was yellow in the stomach area three finger widths above the top of your belly button. That's where that energy is, and it looks a lot like a golden sun, because it has all of these naughties, or energy lines that spread to many of these other areas of the energetic body and our physical body out from that one place we talked about that. This is the battery system of your energy. And so as a result, it's sending all of that beautiful energy everywhere else. So it really looks, if you're to see it a bit like a golden sun. So using this visualization can really help strengthen and just clear imbalances there. So if you close your eyes, obviously don't do it right now if you're driving folks or doing something else. But if you bring your attention and bring your focus to that area of the body, and visualize a golden orb in that part, just at your stomach area. Imagine that vibrant color, that vibrant energy, just burning away anything that doesn't belong to you, helping you to release and let go. Now, some people really respond to a literal gold color for the solar plexus, and some people prefer sort of a bright yellow. Any of those are fine. Kind of experiment with what color you know, Yellow, from that vibrant color to that gold seems to really work for you or be most potent in your visualization, there's some variation there for you, but allow it to sort of burn away or release and let go of anything that just doesn't belong to you, focusing on any expectations that you might have picked up from others, any emotions that you might have picked up from others, or Things that might be holding you back in that area, just really, you don't even have to know what it is. You can just invite whatever needs to go, let that beautiful, pure light help to release things. Some people will develop energetic chords from their solar plexus chakra to other people that need to be released. So these are usually come from fear, stress or anxiety, where they're energetically attaching to another person, subconsciously. So people can attach to you, you can attach to them, and none of them are ever healthy to have. You know you're not releasing the person if you release a cord that is connected with them. Instead, you're just creating a healthy dynamic with that person. In fact, a lot of mothers and fathers who are really concerned about their children generally have extra energetic cords that emerge from their solar plexus towards someone else or vice versa. And so this is another thing that you can do to really clear up energetic drain from the solar plexus, and here's how you do it. It's not very complicated. You can close your eyes again, take a deep breath and call to mind a person or a situation that feels heavy or draining. Maybe you know somebody like an x that you need to cut cords with or disconnect from. Maybe there's somebody that you excessively worry about or very anxious about, but kind of bring someone to mind, if you're not sure, allow your energy to teach you and to show you who you need to release energy from. Perhaps you can just invite you. Your mind and your spirit to let you know who you need to release that energy from. So visualize an energetic core between you and that person, or maybe even a situation that you're releasing this energy from. And just imagine a tool that feels right for you, whether it's scissors, a sword, a beam of light Archangel Michael's sword, whatever it happens to be, and gently cut the cord, and just use that visualization to release some of the energy. And as the cord dissolves, just in love and gratitude to yourself and to the other person, allowing their energy to return to them, letting your energy return to you, and just allowing that to all be sealed and complete with an energy of love. And then take that breath in and feel yourself lighter, clearer, fully in your energy, and kind of let your cycles of breath and that visualization of releasing these remnants and little extra bits, sending that back from whence it came, and just closing all of that with Love and positive energy that really, really strengthens our solar plexus. Now it doesn't permanently, because you've got to get out of the habit of creating energy cords or accepting energy cords. So in the long run, we want to make sure that that discernment between what's your responsibility and other people's responsibility and you having solid boundaries in place will help you to be able to do that, but it really is going to help release a lot of those drains in the solar plexus. If you've been having a problem with your solar plexus, or you're really recognizing yourself in some of the examples that I gave earlier, is really work on that visualization with the golden sun once a day, at least just once a day, and then maybe once a week, do a little cord cutting exercise, and how that's going to help you is, as you continue throughout the next few weeks, getting in touch with your solar plexus. Being in practice, you might notice if a cord has seems to come back, and if you only wait a week between when you released it and when some things come back, it really helps to inform you what happened in that week, what occurred, and that can help you identify what are some of these triggers that are happening in your life that are allowing you To create that or to receive that, or to extend that from yourself, that can really give you a lot of important information, so that you are not creating these energetic drains for the future. That's the big thing is, we don't want to just heal it in the moment and just kind of patch it up. This is really about how to shift your energy so that you aren't continuously creating these for yourself. Doing that cord cutting on a weekly basis for a few weeks will help give you that information you need to make sure that you're not continuing that. So beyond that, there's a couple of other things that you can do just to keep adding positive energy into the solar plexus, so that you're taking away the heavy stuff. We're inputting positive nutrients into the solar plexus so that it can be strong and be vibrant. So doing different affirmations, like I release what's not mine to carry. I trust myself that trust is a heart chakra thing, but it's also your ability to trust that you can respond to something in the moment, or trusting that you can trust your own actions and your own decision. All of that is solar plexus, too. So I trust myself. I'm confident in my choices. Those affirmations will really keep giving good, strong nutrients. So think about a plant. You know, when we give a good chunk of fertilizer really helps give those conditions for it to grow, to be healthy and to be strong. That's what you want to do. In addition to kind of closing things up and healing and releasing things with the solar plexus, we also want to give it some fertilizer so that it can keep growing and getting strong. And another little dose of fertilizer is a daily boundaries practice where you've got to get in the habit of before you say yes to something, to pause and to check in. Check in with yourself. Check in intuitively. That's a number one tip that I think everybody needs to learn how to do and learn the phrases so that they can give themselves room to check in with their intuition and check in with what their body is telling you before you say yes to something. So in this case, to check in, you might say, am I saying yes out of guilt or obligation? Are either. Of those in the equation, because if so, we really want to re examine that. That's where we're kind of letting other people's expectations rule. Am I truly available for this? Do I have the energy for this? Do I have the capacity for this? Is this my responsibility? That's a huge one, because the solar plexus is really focused on responsibility, and it's important that it has that discernment between what's mine and yours. So you want to listen to that answer intuitively, is this my responsibility? Intuitively, listen to what comes back to you. When you take care of your solar plexus, you're going to be amazed at how much clearer you feel, how much more directed you are, how much more focused you are. The solar plexus is so important to our sense of centeredness and clarity. And when it's strong, you feel confident and in control of your energy. When it's weak and underactive, we just get into all that emotional overwhelm, taking over and feel powerless, confused, stuck and burnt out, and really the key is learning to clear out what isn't yours, to trust yourself and step back into your personal power, focusing on what is yours to respond to. And if you take one thing from this episode, let it be this. You don't have to carry everything. Some things are yours to hold and some things are not. And you get to decide what stays. So I want you to give yourself permission to let go of one thing, whether it's one worry, one expectation, one thing that isn't serving you, even if it's small, it counts. And I would invite you to if this episode resonated with you, if it made a connection with your heart. I'd love to hear about it. You can send me a message.
