Christina Wooten:

Hey there, kindred spirits. Welcome to Modern Life and Spirit podcast. It's Christina Wooten, certified psychic medium at SedonaMedium.com Welcome to our episode today. This week has been full of just interesting surprises, beautiful things, all beautiful things. I had the opportunity to meet with someone who I haven't seen since before the pandemic, so it's been so long. And we met down by Oak Creek, and it was just the perfect place for a little bit of spiritual refreshment and nourishment and land connection and, uh, I mean, really, the power of being out on the land, wherever you are, is really incredible. And it reminds me of how important it is as empaths and people who are energy sensitive to pay attention to your environment if you're needing to shift some things up for you internally, you know, shift up your environment a little bit in the process. Change where you're working, change where you're hanging out. Just give it a try, because our environment really can sometimes be that perfect dose of inspiration, of nurturing, of connection that you might just be missing. So just a little bit of a thought, especially as we're still in this middle of the retrograde, time to change it up. Now is the time to introduce some interesting things and revisit how it is that we're doing things. I am glad that you're here for the second part of our special series. In this series, we are exploring the five love languages, but not just from the perspective of our relationships with others, but this is really about how we experience and express love in our connection with spirit, and I'm sharing some of my nuggets of wisdom that I got from the book God speaks your Love Languages by Gary Chapman. And also I'm sharing my insights as a psychic medium, intuition, teacher, energy practitioner, and kind of bringing those together to take a look more deeply at how the love languages impact our relationship with spirit. So if you missed the very first episode. Please make sure that you check that out. We talked about the love language of physical touch, but I also introduced the concept of what we're talking about a little bit more deeply than I'm going to be talking about here. And so I encourage you to listen to that, and then encourage you to also listen to this words of affirmation episode. So if you aren't familiar with the five love languages, which was first introduced by Dr Gary Chapman, I'm going to give you a brief synopsis of the concept. The concept of the Five Love Languages is that they reveal the unique ways that we give and receive love. So each of us has a natural preference, whether it's through words or actions, time touch or gifts, that makes us feel more deeply seen and appreciated in our relationships, and when we understand our own love language as well as the people around us, we can create more fulfilling and harmonious relationships. You know the concept being that if you are trying to demonstrate your love for another person through acts of service, but perhaps their love language is words of affirmation, they're not going to feel as fulfilled even though you're making all of this effort and trying and showing up for them, unless it's connected with how they normally receive or understand love. It may be hard for them to interpret your actions and your service as being demonstrations of love. So understanding this about how other people receive that love and also how that relates with how we express our love can be really helpful. But what we're exploring in this episode is how to apply that understanding of the love languages with our spiritual connection and with our relationship with the divine. Obviously, the divine speaks all of the love languages, right? But we may feel and recognize it best when we are speaking and receiving love in our natural love language. So in this series, we're looking at. What practices can help you more fully dive into expressing your love language and getting the benefits of that in your spiritual life. Or for those who want to just more fluently speak the many different love languages without being limited to one or two, you are absolutely welcome here as well. So as I said in this episode, we're going to be talking about the love language known as words of affirmation. Words of Affirmation are all about experiencing love through spoken appreciation, through words of encouragement, through thoughtful expressions, and for those that have this as their primary love language, hearing kind words, receiving thoughtful compliments or just real encouragement. Not only feels nice, it feels validating. It feels reassuring. A really authentic I'm proud of you, or a genuine you inspire me really. Keep it simple, right? A simple and heartfelt, genuine Thank you can make such a big difference in feeling seen and valued. And it's not just about compliments or praise. This is important to understand. It's about communicating support and love. Someone with this love language might express their love through poems, singing, songs, a well written card, gushy things that they say to you. But here's what I think that I've discovered about this love language that's so important, the words are just communicating a feeling. The feeling of being valued and cherished is the most important. The words are really just the vehicle for that. So saying words when you don't have the feeling there to someone with a words of affirmation, love language, it doesn't work. It can't be empty or hollow words. It's one thing to just say thanks as you run out the door, but it's an entirely different thing to say, I'm so grateful for your presence in my life. Thank you so much. To really sit with that, to express that, to mean it in your heart when you say it. I think that there's a really interesting link between this love language. And there's a book called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. And if you have this love language, or you know someone who has this love language, I encourage you to really dive deeper into the first agreement from this book about cultic wisdom, the very first agreement is to be impeccable with your word. This is a reminder that your word has creative power, and as you use your words, how important it is to speak into form what you are affirming, what you are creating, and to be in your highest integrity, always in how you relate to this power so saying the things that you wish to affirm and empower, and not using the creative power of word for things that you do not wish to bring more into form. So if this is your love language, definitely dive into the first agreement from the book, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It is critically important. I think it's really going to resonate with you and how you see the world. And also just add a little bit of extra oomph in how you use your words moving forward. So let's explore this love language from the spiritual aspect. So in the spiritual sense, words of affirmation can be experienced most directly in five different ways. So the first one would be sacred texts and quotes. So sacred texts or spiritually inspired writings, really carry profound words, words that impact us, that speak to a deeper truth, that affirm your worth and your purpose and your connection with something greater. And when you open up to a quote or a passage exactly when you need it, it's not just a coincidence, right? It's really Spirit speaking directly to our hearts sometimes, so you might feel really seen or comforted or deeply validated by these words, whether it's wisdom from spiritual teachings, from poetry, from passages that resonate really, deeply sacred texts provide this reassurance that you are guided, that you are supported, that you are profoundly loved, and they can offer a reminder. Of your divine purpose so that you can be brought back into alignment when you need it the most. So the best way to experience this is to read, to expose yourself to inspirational to spiritual teachings and writings to highlight what speaks to you, to hold on to those words that remind you of a greater truth, but you have to make the effort to explore those sacred texts, to give yourself the way to encounter those words that are going to have meaning for you, that can be across many different cultures, many different religious backgrounds, or if you have a religious calling in one particular area, by all means, expand out to you know, different writers with different backgrounds, different aspects of that really explore the sacred texts available to you, because you never know when something is going to really speak to your heart, capture an essence that you'll refer back to again and again and again, that will remind you of how loved you really are, or give you that guidance that you're seeking and looking for. But this is one that really requires you to put yourself in the position, in the situation, to encounter these special words, which might be a little bit harder these days, it's a little bit harder to find a bookstore to go into that has a really large section, right? So explore. We have a wonderful bookstore up in Flagstaff called bookmans. Take yourself to some used bookstores and find the spiritual or religious sections and see what you feel drawn to. The second way that you can really encounter this language from the spiritual sense is through positive affirmations. I think most of us are familiar with positive affirmations and the fact that they go beyond self talk, they are intentional words that really help us to transform our energy, transform our mindset, to align to higher energies and higher levels. They can help us reconnect with our true essence, reinforcing who you really are beyond limiting beliefs or temporary setbacks or frustrations. And the bonus, of course, is that when you regularly practice positive affirmations, you actively are engaging your subconscious. You start rewriting old narratives with new, uplifting, empowering ones. So for instance, repeating I am divinely guided, or I am surrounded by light and support, anchors those truths into your heart. When you bring those words into your heart, creating shifts in your energy, it influences the things that you're manifesting and creating in your reality. I mean, having an affirmation practice may be something that really helps you feel connected to the other side. There's lots of different forms of affirmations, whether you have a specific intention, focus or purpose, and something that you're trying to work on a limiting belief within yourself, or whether you are just uplifting your energy, reminding you that you are safe, supported, cared for, loved deeply by the Divine, but a positive affirmation practice is important. It is part of using that creative power from the first agreement, the creative power of the spoken word and bringing things into form. You're calling it. You're welcoming it into your energy and your environment. And think about every time you speak those words, it is directly impacting your auric field. It's putting that energy into your aura every time you speak it out loud. So let's look at the third way that we tap into the power of words of affirmation, and that is prayer. If you attend a church or temple or something along those lines, you might have been taught that prayer has a certain format, or it has a lot of shoulds to it a lot of rules, but prayer from the heart is a sacred conversation between you and the universe or the divine, can be incredibly healing. And what makes prayer especially powerful for people who resonate with the words of affirmation is the reciprocal nature of it. You're speaking, you're sharing, and often in that silence or the space afterwards, you might feel or hear an internal response of sense of comfort, maybe of reassurance, of knowing that you are heard, that your love. That you're not alone. You might even get direction for your path afterwards. You just never know what's going to pop up in that space afterwards. But prayer provides clarity, provides affirmation about your path, your purpose, your relationship with the spiritual world. It's an important part of our connection with the Divine and developing that relationship with source and something just as a little bit of a side note, but I think it's important. As someone who teaches about spirit guides while we're talking about prayer, there is a big misconception that when you're saying prayers that your spirit guides are picking up on exactly what's being said. And I want to clear this up that is not actually true. Your spirit guides can always read your energy, but they can't hear your prayer specifically, word for word, without your permission, because it isn't meant for them. It's a sacred encounter between you and source, and that's a very private connection that we have. So if you do want them to hear your prayers, put out that blanket permission that you welcome your guides to be able to hear your prayers, you would be really surprised at how the intimacy of what you share in prayers. Helps your spirit guides understand more directly what you are experiencing in the moment. They are getting that human nature feedback of what you're struggling with, what you need extra support with how you're emotionally feeling, what your focus is on, what is sticking and what you might still be missing. All of those can be helpful information that unless you're communicating it directly with your guides, you may just assume that they know, but this is a great way just giving them that blanket permission that says, yes, I'd love for you to be able to tune in to my prayers, the things that are being said so that they can understand you more deeply and help you more easily. All right, so the fourth way that we can really express words of affirmation spiritually are through songs, chants, mantras, or curtain or anything along those lines. Music and chant carry vibrations. So singing affirmations, mantras, spiritual chants such as curtain or devotional songs, help to anchor affirmations deeply into our energy body. So you might feel your heart just expand with certain lyrics as they resonate with you, or affirm your identity, affirm who you understand yourself to be as a spiritual being. So whether you're listening or you're just humming along, or you're fully in deep devotional chant, this form of affirmation can really hit the right spot sometimes. Now I'll also add to this that when I've done development circles with my mentor, we would always be singing as loud as we could right before circles, because they would add this extra energy into the room, this extra life force. So that's a bonus of this practice too. It blesses your space. It adds to your life force energy. It adds to the good energy in the environment, wherever it is that you are choosing to practice with song, chant, Mantra, Kirtan, so just kind of a fun, energetic bonus when we're doing higher level of meditation or higher level of work, giving that extra energy into the space to help support us in that journey, can really take things to the next level. So our last encounter with words of affirmation in this context is channeled or inspired. Writing channeled writing or inspired journaling allows you to connect deeply with spirit through words. So that practice involves receiving intuitive messages or guidance from your guides your higher self. Often those words just flow effortlessly onto the page, and before you know it, there's all this beautiful guidance or clarity or encouragement to help you understand what you need to know in this moment. And you might notice that your written voice shifts subtly when you're channeling so perhaps becoming kinder, wiser, even more poetic, as Spirit uses that ability of the words to lift you, to heal you, to remind you of your worth, to remind you of your divine journey. So inspired, right? Writing is a really strong healer for people with this love language. And just grab a pencil sheet of paper and really see what wants to flow out. If you're not sure how to get started, just ask a question and begin to see what comes up. Now. Dr Chapman talks about different ways to push ourselves to expand into different dialects of the love language. And so one really beautiful practice that he shared for experiencing words of affirmation love language is what he called Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a heartfelt practice of using your words to genuinely express gratitude to the divine. So you're consciously tapping into this deep well inside of love appreciation that's already inside you, and sharing that through your words that can look like walking throughout your day and intentionally noticing things that make you smile or spark that feeling of warmth and appreciation inside. Maybe it's just the sunshine that's streaming in through the window or the way a breeze feels on your face. Maybe it's just the quiet space to enjoy a cup of tea, whatever, as you notice everything that brings forward that warm feeling, you pause briefly and whisper a simple thank you to the universe. Or you can just go deeper, express yourself as much as you like, share the gratitude that's really in your heart, or you might spend time consciously bringing to mind people who've touched your life deeply and express heartfelt gratitude for them while you're in prayer practice, but it's a really nice abundance practice too, to notice all the many blessings that you have, The things that you have been gifted, that you've been entrusted with to steward and spend more time being thankful. That's a very attractive energy to the universe, to bring positive energy towards us when we are in that thankful place within so something for you to try and practice, maybe give yourself a challenge to go into a room today and just look around, think about all the things that you can be thankful for in that space, things, items that you have that bring forward certain memories that you are thankful for and really appreciate and express that with your heart, what are you truly thankful for? So that brings me to something that I'd love for you to reflect on this week, whether words of affirmation is your primary love language or not, there's powerful growth and healing when we learn to express love through the words that we speak and that we receive. So take a moment and just ask yourself, when was the last time that words really touched my spirit, when was the last time that words really touched my spirit, and how can I invite more of those affirming messages into my daily experience. How can you welcome that in so maybe it's writing down a meaningful affirmation that you can carry with you throughout your day, or sticking it on a post it note and putting it somewhere we're going to see it every day. Maybe it's speaking a prayer of genuine gratitude as you're starting your moment being very intentional with that, or you're immersing yourself in music or chants that uplift your energy and bring good life force into the space. It could even be pausing to read, to recite a passage from one of your favorite texts. But think about how you can use this wisdom and use your wiring to express more of this love language out in your connection with source. So whatever resonates with you, I encourage you to practice one small spiritual affirmation ritual or practice this week, and just notice how that simple act can help deepen your connection with yourself, or help you feel better or lift your energy. And of course, if you know people with words of affirmation love language, be sure to share this episode with them, let them know that there is so much more to understand about this love language and ways that it can enrich our lives and help us to expand next time we're going to explore the spiritual side of acts of service love language. So stay tuned, because we still have a lot to uncover many more love languages for us to process and come to a deeper understanding of. And honestly, I'm not hearing people talk about this. I would love to hear your thoughts and how this connects with you, with your practices, how it feels in your heart. You can share those with me at Instagram, at Sedona medium, or Facebook at Sedona medium. I would love to hear from you, and if you love this episode, if you have appreciated our other episodes. We would love to hear from you, if you would leave us a review, wherever it is that you are listening to this podcast, we would be exceptionally grateful. I look forward to a beautiful week of integrating words of affirmation, sending so much love and light and many blessings the
